For this book, the 20 most extraordinary geotopes were selected from a large number of geotopes throughout Bavaria that are associated with gold mining. They are presented in the individual chapters from north to south. For each geotope, the book includes detailed directions, a map of the area and an overview of the most important facts about the site. The book is richly illustrated, with graphics and geological maps clearly explaining the geological facts. The chapters explain what exactly can be seen on site, why there was gold there in the first place and how much of it was mined and how. The individual chapters are rounded off with legends and stories from books or passed down by locals. There are also numerous tips for the whole family on what else there is to experience on the subject of gold in Bavaria, such as mine visits or gold panning activities.
